ABSTRACT
In Victoria Station Driver 274 resists his Controller’s order to pick up a passenger at Victoria Station, claiming he never heard of it and that he is parked near the Crystal Palace with a passenger on board. The Controller with increasing verbal abuse orders the Driver to deposit the passenger and take up the assignment. But the Driver reveals that his passenger on board is asleep and that he has fallen in love with her. The Controller orders the Driver to promise to wait there for his arrival. Victoria Station returns to the classic dominant/ subservient relationship to dramatize the triumph of love over a position of power.
