ABSTRACT
The following list of notable Chopin performances on compact disc is by no means comprehensive. Organized alphabetically by artist, the compact discs selected for this Chopin discography represent both contemporary recordings and reissues of earlier performances. The intention of this addendum to previously published discographies is to provide a sample of available recordings by recognized Chopin interpreters, as referenced in Schwann Artist Issue (ISSN 1066-2138) and Gramophone Classical Catalogue (ISSN 1353-4890). In selecting recordings that best represent the Chopin performance tradition, an attempt was made to provide citations for all of Chopin’s oeuvre and not merely the most popular compositions. Additional consideration was given to the various “schools” of Chopin piano performance, both inheritors of specific traditions of piano teaching and representatives of different nations.
