ABSTRACT

The concept of hegemony embodies many aspects and has no borders. What remains is a web of meanings with several political threads that weave through the definitions. Originally, the word “egemonia,” as used by the Greeks, meant the predominance of one state over another, which would be relevant at the time to the political complexity and struggle of the disunified Greek states. In recent modern times, the concept has been included as a force and strategy for winning the support of the masses

throughout historical and political upheavals. For our use in the dramatic arts, I will explore the concept as a theoretical tool for understanding additional dimensions of modern constructions in order to rehearse transforming them.
