ABSTRACT

A. Overview The main features and the limitations of electrochemical conversions in emulsions are reported and the general features of electrochemical processes in microheterogeneous systems are briefly reviewed. The effects of heterogeneous suspensions and solutions on the selectivity and the efficiency of electro-organic synthesis are described. These effects are mainly governed by the ‘‘local’’ concentrations of the reactants, modifications made to the electrodes, and some specific interactions. All of these aspects are developed in this nonexhaustive review in order to emphasize the specificity and the range of applications available in different surfactant-based macro-and microheterogeneous systems.
