ABSTRACT

Ion-exchange chromatography has been the subject of many books, conference proceedings, and reviews [1-13]. This chapter will attempt to highlight theories discussed in detail by others. Also, advances in the past 2-3 years will be described, with special emphasis on biomedical applications and mass spectrometry, which were not emphasized in other reviews. An attempt is made to divide the subject into low molecular weight (< 1000 Da) and high molecular weight analytes, such as proteins.
