ABSTRACT
Surfactants (surface active substances) are compounds that have chemical structures.incorporating both hydrophilic and hydrophobic functions. As their name implies, they congregate at interfaces, where they function in various useful ways. The predominant use of synthetic surfactants is in detergents for cleaning fabrics, food utensils, and buildings. There are also thousands of food, cosmetic, and industrial applications of these compounds, which are found everywhere as adjuvants and formulation aids.
