ABSTRACT

Matrices of various forms exist. Besides the A matrix, Z, Y, H, G, B, and now the scatter parameter (S) are used. The advantage of the A, or chain, matrix is that each element of a circuit can be chained, or in tandem, as the elements of the circuit appear, as in the circuit in Fig. 16.1. R1 and R3 are series elements, and R2 and R4 are shunt elements. Each of these resistors can make up one complete matrix and each matrix can be multiplied, or chained, by the following element.
