It should also be noted that there exists a linkage between EL and AB interactions. For instance, a decrease in (^-potential (cf. Chapter 5), which causes a decrease in EL-repulsive energies, but at the same time gives rise to a much stronger decrease in AB-repulsive energies, usually even causing an AB-repulsion to become an AB-(hydrophobic) attraction] cf. Chapters 7 and 10 (Wu, 1994).
