ABSTRACT
Censored data refers to a set of observations where some of the values are known only up to a boundary value. Censored data occur commonly in lifetime experiments, where the lower bound is often observed, and is called "right censoring". Right censoring will occur, for example, when unit lifetimes (e.g., light bulbs, mice) are being measured, and at the end of the experiment some of the units have not yet "died"; the lower bound on the survival time for these observations is the time at which the experiment ends, while the actual survival time is unknown.
