ABSTRACT
The importance of sugarcane as one of the world’s most important commercial crops needs no special emphasis. Worldwide, sugarcane is cultivated over an area of 18.32 million ha with an annual production of 700.99 million tons of sugarcane and 85.57 million tons of sugar. The crop is a major source of employment and industrial development, particularly in some developing countries.
