ABSTRACT

A pipe flange is a common joint in piping systems. The ease of disassembly and re-assembly of flange joints makes them particularly well suited for maintenance, line breaks and pipe connections to equipment and components. Pipe flanges are often taken for granted, and relatively little attention is paid to flange joining compared for example to the attention accorded to welding. Flange joint sizes and ratings have been standardized since the 1920’s. Today’s common pipe flange standards are: https://www.niso.org/standards/z39-96/ns/oasis-exchange/table"> ANSI B 16.5 Pipe Flanges and Flanged Fittings.
