ABSTRACT

The successful management of neuropathic pain has long been elusive. Over the years many treatments have been suggested, including medical management, neuroaugmentation techniques, such as spinal cord stimulation, and neural ablative techniques, such as rhizotomy or chordotomy. No one technique or combination of treatments has been shown to be ideal and, in fact, each patient responds in a different fashion to similar treatments applied in apparently the same clinical setting.
