Discussions on the adsorption of surfactants are often based on the profile of the adsorption isotherm as displayed in Fig. I. In very broad terms this profile in the case of a cationic surfactant adsorbed on hydrophilic mineral oxide particles [6] (which is the substrate most often discussed in this chapter) may be interpreted along the following lines.
