ABSTRACT

Proteins provide diverse functional capability to sustain life. It is assumed that every protein that is actively expressed within a cell has at least one functional and/or structural purpose such that it increases the ability of the organism to survive and reproduce. At a molecular level, proteins are polymers of different sequences of 20 naturally occurring amino acids. The specific sequence of a protein is determined by the nucleotide sequence of the gene encoding that protein in the genome of the organism.
