ABSTRACT
A person who engages in commercial activity is ordinarily referred to as an Unternehmer (entrepreneur) or Gewerbetreibender (businessman). However, a person does not become a Kaufmann in the technical sense of the HGB unless and until he is registered as such in the commercial register (Handelsregister).
