ABSTRACT
In the spring of 2007 more than one hundred artists, curators, contractors, fabricators, family members, and friends gathered at private art collector Steve Oliver’s ranch in Gyserville, California, to celebrate the opening of Tower by artist Ann Hamilton. Hamilton stood to make her remarks and began by saying, “I’d like to thank Steve Oliver. He only gave me permission. He never said, ‘no’.”
