ABSTRACT

Globalisation has brought about greater awareness of gross abuses of social, economic, civil and political human rights and linkages between them as well as greater practical possibilities for solidarity across borders and struggles. In particular, the increasing integration of economies, polities and societies has created ‘political opportunities’ for new forms of women’s movement mobilisation. Feminist struggles are increasingly taking place within and around global institutions and are no longer confined to local grassroots or national social movement activism.
