ABSTRACT

In recent years, international epic cinema has been gaining increased visibility on a global scale. Developing in a way that might be compared to the increased presence and importance of “the rest” in all areas of economic and society, a rising tide of non-Western epic super-productions has gained international distribution and attention, acquiring signifi cant competitive advantage. In this essay I would like to weigh the commercial advances in the circulation of non-Western epic fi lms against the still limited interest in and appreciation of non-Western history and civilization.
