ABSTRACT

Feeling `stuck' is a common experience for most therapists and usually happens after the therapy has been progressing for a number of sessions. It is hard to clearly de®ne what is meant by `being stuck' but usually it involves a lack of progress in treatment outcomes and a feeling of malaise within family and therapist. Beaudoin (2008) de®nes stuckness as: `an absence of movement or as movement towards an unhelpful direction' (2008: 78).
