ABSTRACT

Treadwell is one of those fascinating people whose life was full of adventure but about whom little was ever recorded. . . . Nobody knows what she was like, but she must have been pretty tough and fiercely independent. She was the first female American war correspondent, she sued the actor John Barrymore over copyright and won, and was a veteran of 30 or so theatrical flops. Inexplicably, there is no biography of her.
