ABSTRACT

On the morning of September 11, 2001, Guichun came to Angene’s of ce to tell her that a plane had crashed into one of the World Trade Towers. Yao, who had defended his dissertation the previous week and had planned to return to Ghana the following weekend, joined us as we listened in shock to the unfolding events. We were colleagues at the University of Kentucky in social studies and global education and, because of our own transnational and cross-cultural experiences, we immediately thought about the global context.
