ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we explore the theoretical parameters of cybermedicalization by considering the implications of body studies in digital culture. This analysis informs Part II, where we provide detailed cases of cybermedical bodies and develop the claim that the online body has always been gendered within cybercultural studies. It aims to establish a broad theoretical base through which to interpret medicalized cyberspaces.
