ABSTRACT

In the primary management of renal cancer, radiotherapy has a limited role. However, irradiation has been utilized in the adjuvant and postoperative residual disease scenarios as well as in the unresectable and metastatic disease settings. The rationale and merit for each of these situations will be reviewed in the first half of this chapter. Another crucial and important aspect of renal management is the adequate provision of prompt and appropriate supportive care. This aspect of management may often be neglected until late in the management of this disease. Supportive care covers many aspects of patient management and is best managed within a multidisciplinary team. The principles, organization, and range of supportive care will be discussed in the latter half of this chapter.
