ABSTRACT
Curriculum guidance for the Foundation Stage, referred to as the Early Learning Goals (DfEE/QCA 2000) outlines what should be taught. These now relate directly to the renewed Primary Framework (DfES 2006). A Foundation Stage profile is completed for every child at the end of Reception, summarising the starting points for:
● numbers as labels for counting
● calculating
● shape, space and measures.
