ABSTRACT
The traditional system is often too rigid and has been used in inappropriate circumstances, for example, where the design is not complete. Projects have become more complex and demanding in terms of technical, legal and financial, speed, size and logistics aspects. Under complex circumstances the management strategies may offer an alternative approach. In such cases, the contractor/construction manager offers the client a consultant service, based on a fee, for coordinating, planning, controlling and managing the design and construction (see Fig. 11.1).
