ABSTRACT

Teams are all very well in their place, but individuals are important too. It seems to me that the current trend towards producing teachers of uniform quality and style ignores the fact that a good school surely has room for people who work in ways other than those approved by agencies of the government. I remember an excellent maths teacher who would often address his classes while lying flat on the maths room window ledge. Ofsted, I have no doubt, would have frowned upon this, even though he did have a bad back.
