I have long been interested in the question of where writing center directors come from. Now, I don't mean a story of the birds and the bees or an analysis ofwriting center geography or even a tale about graduate school training. What I mean is, where did this all start? Who was the first writing center director? And what can an understanding ofour roots offer a new or es .. tablished writing center director?
