ABSTRACT
This chapter extols the virtues of formative assessment and formative feedback as powerful learning tools, but also emphasises that they need to be relevant, be carefully considered and carefully designed in order to maximise student engagement and student benefit in participation. The chapter concludes with an indication of further work and opportunities for you to take your interest in formative assessment and formative feedback forward.
