ABSTRACT

How can I develop pupils’ group-working skills? Pupils need to be prepared for group work. Before groups can work productively, children have to be positive about working together and they must feel safe and secure in each other’s company. Such feelings of safety involve pupils:

• feeling comfortable in dealing with differences and confrontations; • believing that their ideas will be listened to and respected; • having the confidence that they will not be embarrassed, rejected or exposed for

expressing their ideas and views.
