Wooden’s accomplishments have inspired numerous books and academic articles, along with endless speculation as to the secrets of his success. Critics note that he was blessed with phenomenal athletes during his tenure, such as Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Bill Walton, both of whom went on to spectacular professional careers. Wooden, however, also won championships with teams considered far less talented that were never expected to win.
