ABSTRACT

In this chapter we will look at children’s experience of poetry within the KS2 curriculum. Does the love of rhyme and rhythm evident in the enjoyment of nursery and playground rhymes in Early Years settings and the fascination with word play in KS1 classrooms continue at KS2? Or does the fear and non-identification with an unfamiliar form that many of us have experienced in our secondary schooling start much earlier in our Primary schools?
