ABSTRACT

What should we actually be providing for our able students in the classroom? There is of course no single right answer and this chapter is intended to offer you a wide range of possible options together with a discussion about their advantages and disadvantages. The aim is to meet the needs of individuals in a planned, manageable and sustainable way rather than offer an ad hoc, reactive potpourri of activities. We focus on the types of provision possible within the ordinary classroom, because that is where most able students are to be found.
