ABSTRACT
This chapter addresses some very practical aspects of being a digital musician, including employment and career prospects, skill sets and education, and a range of ‘real world’ situations and practices. To illustrate some of the key ideas that emerge, a collection of ‘case studies’ of leading digital musicians is provided. These consist of brief biographies and interviews, from which a picture of the diversity of the lives of such musicians will emerge.
