ABSTRACT

Moral particularism grew out of the work of John McDowell and especially

of Jonathan Dancy. It has been on the philosophical stage for more than two decades now. In recent years its various aspects, as well as its theoretical

and practical consequences have been debated within moral theory. Espe-

cially important landmarks of this process were the publication of a collec-

tion of papers Moral Particularism (in 2000, eds. B. Hooker and M. Little)

and Jonathan Dancy’s recent book Ethics Without Principles (2004).
