ABSTRACT
We have traced the process of the demise of the CPSU in previous chapters. The task of this chapter is to generalize our argument. How universal was the experience of the CPSU compared with those of other communist regimes? And what are the theoretical implications of our argument? Before discussing these issues, let me summarize my rather complicated story of the CPSU.
