ABSTRACT
Housing has become a very high-profile issue in regional and sub-regional planning. With the pressures on the housing market, and the marked imbalances between limited supply and growing demand in many regions in the UK, and in other countries, the location and other characteristics of housing are very significant. Housing is often at the forefront of the interface between the socioeconomic and environmental objectives for a region, and between many competing interests.
