ABSTRACT

Why would you want to spend time thinking about social class, sexuality, or spirituality in designing curricula for young children? Young children don's t even notice social class, discussion of sexuality is not appropriate in the early childhood classroom anyway, and spirituality isn's t something that young children are capable of talking about. It's far too complicated for them to grasp. There are many more important elements to focus on in multicultural education, like dealing with the diversity that children bring with them into the classroom as a foundation for their learning new things.
