ABSTRACT

Several years ago I received my ®rst in a series of child psychotherapy cases referred by Family Court. These cases keep me up at night. The children cannot rest securely in the face of their parents' distortions and hatred. They are often forced to take sides in battles far beyond their emotional maturity and capacity to manage. The case I discuss here will explore the vicissitudes of one child's attempt to ®nd her own mind in a toxic environment.
