ABSTRACT
Visual culture studies is poised to make signifi cant contributions to undergraduate programs in North American universities, but in order to do so, it must be repositioned in the curriculum and its role must be made clear. To these ends, I will argue that visual studies can operate most eff ectively at the undergraduate level when combined with critical multiculturalism in a single mandatory general education course.
