ABSTRACT
Having established that world cities are a new manifestation of a much older capitalist dynamic, the challenge in this chapter is to determine the specifi c ideological and institutional character of this urban capitalism. What are the reforms that capitalist cities have adopted to make themselves into world cities and how do these patterns apply in Cape Town?
