ABSTRACT

This book has focused much of its content in one form or another on issues surrounding project outsourcing. In this chapter we concentrate on looking inside project organisations to discuss how they may better present themselves as an employer of first choice. This is entirely applicable to both outsourced and in-house project procurement. We focus our attention on outsourced project procurement strategies from the perspective of the procurement aim as being the supply chain partner and team member of first choice. In our discussion of in-house project recruitment we will also tackle this from the perspective of addressing the value proposition of potential team members. We stress throughout this book that projects are delivered by people. A key procurement issue addressed in this chapter is discussing how organisations can attract and retain talented people who are committed, motivated and highly competent to work on projects. The key question raised is how do we attract and retain such people to be project team members? Also, how do we present our project as being attractive to our supply chain partner teams?
