ABSTRACT

The introduction to this section looked at the central role of communica-

tion in the realisation of design concepts into a built form, it also sug-

gested that many channels of communication exist, depending on the

tasks involved and lastly that each channel would use a particular lan-

guage suitable to its specific function. Moving on from the theoretical

concept of communication and into the practical reality involves looking

at themethods currently in use. This examination aims to be descriptive

and evaluative, in other words critical when necessary but also approv-

ing as appropriate.
