ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the screen reaction on the auditorium. On-screen, there is a reversal of this process, and there is a magic formula that will save the performance from being lost at sea: React before ones speak. There are good technical reasons for this the editor has to have something to cut to, and if she and the director do not like the actor does they can always cut it out, but they cannot put it in if the actor has launched into a speech with no reactions to introduce it. On several occasions, have a very expressive face and do good reactions, have been filmed in a single shot just listening to a dialogue sound track, in order for the director to be able to pick some suitable expressions to edit into the scene. The actor expect that is got the job in the first place, since always do a lot of reactions at the reading.
