ABSTRACT

Everyone has an image of what an actor is and how she works, whether starring in a role on Broadway or appearing in the latest Hollywood blockbuster, but the actual things will get up to as an actor will be mind-blowing. Actors are asked to do the impossible and the outrageous, and need to be able to adjust to whatever is demanded by using whatever works. Remember the valuable old saying that has been a life belt, saving many excellent performances: Spontaneity comes last! the people lifelines are for guidance, not absolute obedience. Take whatever is useful, store away what might come in handy for the future, and try all things until it works whatever that might be. This chapter explains a tool chest, full of techniques and ideas as to how tools can be applied. Different jobs demand different tools, and different craftsmen use different ways of solving the same problem.
