ABSTRACT

There is a major division between readings for the stage and readings for the screen. The reading will be very much what the director wants us to act on the set, so this major difference is that for a stage reading we are displaying potential, but for screen readings we are required to give results. However, the main reason why people do not get work on-screen from readings is that their vocal projection is too loud. A clever piece of business always goes down well, as does a specialty that we can do, whether it is making a funny voice or face, whistling loudly, or being a happy risk taker. The longer the proposed rehearsal time, the more they are going to wonder if we will fit in with the rest of the cast and, more important, how we will respond in the rehearsals.
