ABSTRACT

“I have had the unique opportunity to share the treasures of the literary world in a personal and professional manner. In my work as a librarian, I have been amazed at how far we’ve come in the development of literature for African American children and how far we’ve yet to go in terms of the range of themes, subjects, and artistic exploration of the African American experience, in particular, and the African diaspora as a whole.”
