ABSTRACT
“I believe it is important to show the various shades of Black people in my work, both figuratively and literally. As a people, we come from many different backgrounds, mixes of races and cultures. I would love for young readers to see fictional characters whom they resemble living in and dealing with the multicultural world of today. Or, expose them to Black American subcultures, something real to which they may be able to relate and even experience.”
