“Growing up among extended family members in my rural hometown of Madison, Mississippi enabled me to visit older relatives almost daily. Those visits were filled with stories of how their lives used to be. My writing grew out of a desire to share my family’s history as well as the untold and ‘undertold’ stories of other African Americans.”
