Robert Falls is the artistic director of Chicago’s Goodman Theater — a post he has held since 1986. A number of notable Goodman productions directed by Falls have transferred to New York, including Tennessee Williams’s
Night of the Iguana,
starring Cherry Jones and Bill Peterson; Arthur Miller’s
Death of a Salesman,
starring Brian Dennehy; Eugene O’Neill’s
Moon for the Misbegotten,
starring Cherry Jones and Gabriel Byrne; and
Long Day’s Journey Into Night
starring Brian Dennehy, and — in the Tony Award-winning New York remounting — Vanessa Redgrave. Falls also directed
Aida
