NEDERLANDER THEATRE ยท 208 W. 41st Street. Architect: William N. Smith. Opening: September 1, 1921; Swords. Th e theater, built on the sight of an indoor tennis court by Walter C. Jordan, a theatrical agent, opened as the National in 1921. It reputedly cost $950,000 to build and contained 1,200 seats. Th ough Jordan owned the theater, the Shubert Brothers booked the theater. Its ๏ฌ rst production, Swords, was also the ๏ฌ rst play by Sidney Howard.
