Jordan, a theatrical agent, opened as the National in 1921. It reputedly cost $950,000 to build and contained 1,200 seats. Th ough Jordan owned the theater, the Shubert Brothers booked the theater. Its ﬁ rst production, Swords, was also the ﬁ rst play by Sidney Howard.
