NEDERLANDER THEATRE ยท 208 W. 41st Street. Architect: William N. Smith. Opening: September 1, 1921; Swords. Th e theater, built on the sight of an indoor tennis court by Walter C. Jordan, a theatrical agent, opened as the National in 1921. It reputedly cost $950,000 to build and contained 1,200 seats. Th ough Jordan owned the theater, the Shubert Brothers booked the theater. Its ๏ฌ rst production, Swords, was also the ๏ฌ rst play by Sidney Howard.
